On March 14 and 15 2019, the Center for Political Courage (CPC) organized the seminar “The Basics of Critical Thinking and Academic Integrity for University Studies and Student Activism”. The seminar was attended by twenty students from higher education institutions in Kosovo, selected from an open call for applications. This seminar was delivered by Dr. Pëllumb Kelmendi, Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science, Auburn University, Alabama, USA.
The key theme of the seminar was critical thinking and academic integrity, including, among other things, assertions, arguments, analogies, and graphical representations. In addition to lectures and debates, participants also engaged in group work and analyzed in practice the content of relevant essays. In conclusion Dr. Kelmendi shared with the participants his experience of studying in the most prestigious universities in the US and provided additional information on how the application and content should be taken into consideration by students during their bid to earn a scholarship.
This seminar was organized within the project “Think globally, act locally – Series of seminars on critical thinking and academic integrity”. The overall goal of the project is to increase students awareness and expand their horizons about the quality that higher education should provide. Also, these activities aim at creating a network of youngsters who would apply the knowledge and experiences gained from the seminars during their studies and work.
The project “Think globally, act locally – Series of seminars on critical thinking and academic integrity” is supported by the Kosovo Foundation for Open Society (KFOS), within the Coalition for Integrity and Transparency at the University (KITU).
