On 2nd and 3rd May 2019, the Centre for Political Courage (CPC) organized the Seminar on Soft Skills with students from various public universities and private colleges in Kosovo, selected through the open call for applications under the project “Think globally, act locally – Series of seminars on critical thinking and academic integrity”. This seminar was delivered by Ms. Shenaj Shala, protocol specialist, consultant of conduct, mentor and independent lecturer.
The key topics of this seminar were soft skills, including among others: the importance of first impressions and personal image; effective communication and presentation skills; strengthening self-confidence; non-verbal communication (body language, facial expressions, etc.); effective use of voice (rhythm, tonality, dialect, power of silence); managing stress before and during public speaking (job interviews, academic presentations, important meetings, etc.); as well as managing criticisms and feedback. In addition to the very dynamic lectures and discussions, the participants also engaged in group work by carrying out some of the good practices of topics discussed during the seminar.
The seminar was organized as part of the project “Think globally, act locally – Series of seminars on critical thinking and academic integrity”. The overall goal of the project is to increase student awareness and expand their horizons for the quality that studies and higher education should offer. Also, these activities aim at creating a network of young people who would apply the knowledge and experiences gained from the seminars during their studies and work.
The project “Think globally, act locally – Series of seminars on critical thinking and academic integrity” is supported by the Kosovo Foundation for Open Society (KFOS), within the Coalition for Integrity and Transparency at the University (KITU).
